FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How retainer hours, time zones, access, scope and billing work.

How do retainer hours work?

You choose a monthly block of hours (10, 20 or 40). Hours are billed monthly in advance and cover investigation, development, testing, documentation and communication on your Salesforce work. Unused hours roll over one month only; after that they expire. If you need more than your plan includes, additional hours are $95/h and I check with you before using them.

How are hours tracked and reported?

I track time against each request and send written status updates, so you can see what was investigated, what changed and how many hours it took. A monthly summary shows how your hours were used and what is left to roll over.

What about time zone overlap with US business hours?

I work Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). ET observes daylight saving time, and so do the Central, Mountain and Pacific zones below, so the offsets stay the same all year (Arizona, which does not observe daylight saving time, is the exception):

My hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). Here is what that looks like in each US time zone.

US Pacific (PT)3 hours behind ET6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT

Most work is asynchronous, so overlap matters mainly for calls, and I can schedule those inside your business hours.

How fast do you respond?

I acknowledge requests within one business day (Monday to Friday, Eastern Time (ET)). Pro plan production issues get priority scheduling. This is not 24/7 or on-call support, so if you need round-the-clock coverage a retainer is not the right fit.

How do you handle access and security?

I ask for the least access needed to do the job. Where possible I start in a sandbox, and changes move to production through your normal release process. You can revoke my access at any time, and I do not need your personal credentials. A named integration or admin user with scoped permissions is the better pattern.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes. I am glad to sign a mutual NDA before you share anything sensitive, and confidentiality terms are also part of the written retainer agreement.

What is out of scope?

A retainer is built for ongoing, incremental work. Large implementations, full org builds and one-off data migration or ETL projects are outside what these plans are designed for. If your need is one of those, say so on the discovery call and I will tell you honestly whether I can help or whether another arrangement makes sense. I also do not provide 24/7 support.

How do we get started?

Request a discovery call. I reply within one business day to schedule a free 30-minute call. After the call, if we both think it is a good fit, I send the retainer agreement and an invoice for the first month. Work starts once the agreement is signed and the first month is paid.

How does billing and invoicing work?

Retainers are billed monthly in advance in USD. Extra hours beyond your plan are $95/h. Payment method and due date are set out in the retainer agreement.

What is the contract, and how do I cancel?

Work happens under a written retainer agreement. Plans are month-to-month: you can cancel with 30 days notice, and you can move between plans at the start of a billing month.

Who will actually do the work?

I personally oversee all of the work and stay your direct point of contact. If I ever need to bring in someone to help on a task, I remain responsible for supervising it and for the quality of what you receive.

Do you work with other companies or teams?

I occasionally collaborate with other companies' teams. I am also open to working under a new company's umbrella and delivering services on its behalf, as long as the engagement respects my rate. Either way, the judgment calls on each project remain mine.

Who owns the work?

You do. Code, configuration and documentation created for you under the retainer belong to you, as set out in the written retainer agreement.
